What is NRENum.net
NRENum.net provides countries, where the Golden ENUM Tree (e164.arpa) is not (yet) available, with the possibility to publish ENUM data. The NRENum.net tree is queried by the participating partners in case no ENUM data is found in the Golden Tree. Those countries that have already access to the Golden Tree cannot get a delegation in NRENum.net. As soon as the Golden Tree is available in a country, e164.arpa shall be used, and the delegation in NRENum.net will be revoked.
NRENum.net is an effort of National Research and Education Networks (NREN). More information about NRENum.net can be found in the charter (draft version). Currently over ten counties participate in NRENum.net

How to partipate
Query the NRENum.net tree
Feel free to query to the NRENum.net tree. You can configure your systems as described in the How-to's section below. Further infomation can be found in the NRENum.net mailinglist.
Populate the NRENum.net tree
In case you fulfill the prerequisites as described in the charter, you can lodge a delegation request, which means that you need fill out the form. You also need to configure your local nameservers. The check, whether your nameservers are set up correctly, you can use the following tool: Zonecheck: http://www.afnic.fr/outils/zonecheck/form_en

News
- 2008-07-05: Welcome Portugal (+351) to NRENum.net! FCCN is the 10th NREN to join the tree!
- 2008-05-28: Today we have added an additional secondary nameserver. The new nameserver is ns2.iif.hu and is hosted by the NIIF. Thanks guys.
- 2008-01-29: Now NRENum.net has 9 members. Today we delegated the Lithuanian Country code +370 (0.7.3.nrenum.net) to the Kaunas University of Technology.
- 2007-09-10: Switzerland became number 8 of the nrenum.net participants. As the official trial of 1.4.e164.arpa in switzerland has been closed, SWITCH, the Swiss Research and Education Network, has decided to continue with ENUM, but now using nrenum.net. In the next few days Universities in Switzerland wil change their systems to use nrenum.net. The University of Berne is the first University to join with approx. 10.000 number, end the ETH Zurich (30.000 numbers) and University of Zurich (20.000 numbers) will follow shortly. Welcome Switzerland!
- 2007-07-10: RedIris, the spanish academic and research network has joined nrenum.net. The zone 4.3.nrenum.net (+34) has been delegated to them. This is now the 7th delegation in nrenum.net. Welcome Spain!
- 2007-06-01: Since today, PacPhone, a free H.323 Videoconferencing client officially supports nrenum.net. As part of is ENUM lookup functionality, PacPhone is the only H.323 client who has this feature inbuild, nrenum.net is now natively queried, alongside the e164.arpa and the e164.org tree. This is great to see!
- 2007-04-15: Updated nrenum.net mainpage and how-to's for Asterisk and NAPTR / SRV
- 2007-03-26: New How-to uploaded and report for January / Feburary is available
- 2007-01-08: We wish you all a Happy New Year and we hope you had a lovely Xmas.
- 2006-11-20: The Italian Research and Education Network, GARR has requested to have 9.3.nrenum.net (+39) delegated to them. The italian country code in nrenum.net has been delegated as of today. Welcome Italy.
- 2006-11-13: The country code +32 (2.3.nrenum.net) for Belgium has today be delegated to BELNet. We are happy to welcome them to nrenum.net
- 2006-11-06: Hungarnet, Hungaries Research and Education Network has requested to have 6.3.nrenum.net (+36) delegated to them. The delegation was done today. Isten Hozott!
- 2006-10-30: As of today GRNet has joined nrenum.net. The Greek country code 0.3.nrennum.net (+30) has been delegated to them.
- 2006-09-26: Since today, Slovenia, represented by Arnes, has joined nrenum.net and the +386 (6.8.3.nrenum.net) has been delegated to them. Welcome Slovenia!
- 2006-09-10: nrenum.net is happy to announce that as of August 23rd, 2006, SURFNet has joined nrenum.net, and the +31 (1.3.nrenum.net) range has been delegated to them.
